Simple stuffed cabbage rolls are a comforting dish from Ukrainian cuisine that combines tender chicken mince with aromatic vegetables wrapped in soft cabbage leaves. The history of cabbage rolls dates back centuries when peasants used available ingredients to create hearty and tasty meals. This version is simplified but no less appetizing. The tender cabbage soaked in the juiciness of the filling and the spiciness of garlic and pepper transforms into a harmonious dish that pairs perfectly with sour cream. Cabbage rolls are great for family dinners; they are filling yet light and easily digestible. Their mild flavor appeals to both adults and children, while the aroma evokes warm memories of home cooking. They are easy to prepare but provide incredible enjoyment from eating.

Prepare the ingredients (thaw the minced meat if necessary). Young garlic with stems is used here; it should be washed.
- Minced chicken: 500 g
- Garlic: 1 piece

Place the cabbage in a deep bowl and carefully cut out the core with a knife.

Make diagonal cuts to remove the cone of the core.

The cabbage will be without the core.

Put the cabbage in a bowl in a bag, then place it in the microwave for 10-30 minutes (depending on the ripeness of the cabbage and the softness of its leaves). Check readiness by periodically taking it out and determining the softness of the leaves (careful: hot!).

While the cabbage is cooking, finely chop the pepper.
- Sweet pepper: 1 piece

Also finely chop the head, stem, and leaves of the garlic.
- Garlic: 1 piece

Add vegetable oil to the pan and sauté the vegetables with spices.
- Vegetable oil: 70 ml
- Spices: 1 teaspoon

Add minced meat to the vegetables, mix everything, and cook until half done.
- Minced chicken: 500 g

Take the cabbage, open it, and let it cool a bit.

Flip the cabbage onto a plate; it's easier to detach the leaves.

Take the first sheet and place the prepared filling on it.
- Cabbage: 1 head

Fold from three sides, starting from the thick part of the sheet, then from the right and left.

Roll into a tube.

Wrap all the cabbage rolls (until the filling runs out) this way and place them tightly in one or two rows in a pot, pouring water to almost cover all the rolls.

Add favorite spices and simmer covered on medium heat for about 20 minutes.
