Smoked mackerel on the grill with teriyaki

The recipe was shared with us by Alexey Yashaev, chef of the Atlantica seafood restaurant.

Prepare all the ingredients. Light the coals.

Cut the mackerel into fillets.

Season the fillet with salt and pepper, drizzle with olive oil, and add sprigs of oregano and thyme.
- Salt: to taste
- Ground black pepper: to taste
- Olive oil: 20 ml
- Oregano: 2 stems
- Thyme: 2 sprigs

Mix and let marinate for 15 minutes.

Place the mackerel on the grill skin side up. Fry it for about 5 minutes.

Remove the fish fillet from the heat, transfer it to a heatproof dish, and brush with teriyaki sauce.
- Teriyaki sauce: 30 ml

Slightly moisten 50 grams of alder chips with water and throw them on the coals.

Place the mackerel on the grill.

Cover with foil, leaving space for smoke to enter. Smoke for about 10 minutes or until the fish is done.

Serve the cooked mackerel hot or chilled.
