Kugelis Potato Casserole

The basis of Lithuanian cuisine is potatoes and bacon, and they are used to make, among other things, a casserole called kugelis. Kugelis is eaten with sour cream, which goes well with potatoes, as well as with apple sauce or lingonberry jam, which go well with bacon. It is easy to prepare - just mix all the ingredients, but it will take time and company to peel and grate two kilograms of potatoes.

In a large skillet, fry the chopped bacon until it releases fat, add finely chopped onion and sauté until golden.
- Bacon: 400 g
- Onion: 250 g

In a large bowl, mix eggs, condensed milk, salt, and pepper.
- Chicken egg: 6 pieces
- Concentrated milk: 1 jar
- Salt: to taste
- Ground black pepper: to taste

Grate the peeled potatoes, a food processor can be used. Add the potatoes to the milk-egg mixture, also add bacon with onions and mix well.
- Potato: 2 kg
- Bacon: 400 g
- Onion: 250 g

Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and place it in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for one and a half hours. Serve the finished kugelis as a side dish with meat or as a main dish, seasoned with sour cream.
