Manhattan

The Manhattan cocktail is a true classic born in the heart of New York in the late 19th century. Legend has it that it was created for a festive evening at the Manhattan Club on the order of Jennie Churchill, mother of the future British Prime Minister. This elegant drink combines the strength of bourbon, the sweetness of sweet vermouth, and the spice of Angostura bitters, offering a rich flavor with hints of vanilla, spices, and a slight bitterness. Served in a chilled glass garnished with a cocktail cherry, it becomes an ideal companion for cozy evenings or formal events. The Manhattan embodies sophistication and nobility in a glass.

1
The 'Manhattan' can be prepared in two ways: mixing all ingredients with a bar spoon in a mixing glass (stir) or shaking in a shaker (shake). For mixing in a glass (preferably crystal, with a volume of at least 150 ml), fill it 2/3 with ice, then add Angostura, bourbon, and sweet vermouth.
- Angostura balm: 0.5 teaspoon
- Bourbon: 50 ml
- Red vermouth: 25 ml
- Ice: 100 g
2
Carefully stir the contents of the glass with a bar spoon - it will take ten to fifteen seconds for all the ingredients to chill. Then strain everything through a special filter - a strainer into the chilled glass where the cocktail will be served. For garnish, drop a cherry at the bottom.
- Cocktail cherry: 1 piece
