Sandwich cake entered Swedish cuisine in the 40s of the last century and became the same traditional holiday snack as Olivier salad became in Russian cuisine. Smörgostorta is prepared for any holiday, but most often for christenings and birthdays. There are thousands of options for fillings, shapes and decorations, this is just one example.

Boil the beetroot and grate it. Mix with two tablespoons of cream cheese and one tablespoon of mayonnaise.
- Beet: 1 piece
- Cream cheese: 220 g

Finely chop the ham, apple, and pickled cucumber. Mix with four tablespoons of cream cheese, 100 grams of sour cream, and half a teaspoon of horseradish.
- Smoked ham: 200 g

Chop two boiled eggs and garlic finely. Mix with two tablespoons of sour cream and the same amount of mayonnaise, adding a few drops of Worcestershire sauce.

Slice the red onion into wedges. Boil vinegar, water, salt, and sugar. Pour the brine over the onion. Leave in the fridge for four hours.

In a bowl, mix 100 grams of sour cream and cream cheese, half a teaspoon of horseradish, and the zest of one lemon.
- Sour cream: 250 g

Lay three pieces of bread side by side in length. Spread the beet filling on them. Sprinkle with finely chopped green onions.

Place three more slices of bread on top and evenly distribute the ham filling. Sprinkle with green onions and fresh spinach.

Lay out the bread and evenly distribute the egg filling. Garnish with green onions. Finish with another layer of bread. Coat the cake with horseradish cream and let it sit in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
