Cabbage pickled with apples is a refined dish of Russian cuisine that combines the freshness of vegetables with the fruity sourness. This traditional appetizer is popular in winter when one wants to preserve the taste of summer. The recipe's origins trace back to ancient village practices of preserving harvests. Tender crispy cabbage soaked in aromatic brine is enriched with the sweetness of carrots and the refreshing sourness of Simirenko apples.
