Grilled green tomatoes with creamy basil sauce is a dish that combines simplicity and sophistication. The roots of this recipe trace back to Yugoslav cuisine, where grilled vegetables are a common feature on the table. Fried green tomatoes acquire a delightful smoky aroma while retaining their tangy acidity. The creamy basil sauce brings harmony – the freshness of the herbs, the spiciness of garlic, and the tenderness of mayonnaise create a perfect accompaniment. This light yet flavorful side dish can be a vibrant addition to meat dishes or served as an independent appetizer. It cooks quickly, looks impressive, and most importantly – leaves a pleasant culinary impression.
