Roasted chestnuts are a traditional autumn treat of Bulgarian cuisine that envelops you in warmth and comfort. Historically, chestnuts were an important food source in Europe, replacing potatoes and bread. Their rich, slightly sweet flavor unfolds after roasting, and the tender flesh takes on a velvety texture. They are perfect for cozy evenings when you want to enjoy the simple yet exquisite taste of nature. Roasted chestnuts can be served plain or lightly seasoned with salt and spices to enhance their nutty notes. This is not only a delicious but also a healthy snack rich in fiber and vitamins.
