Strata with sausages, cheese, and peppers is a cozy Italian dish that harmoniously combines rich flavors and appetizing texture. Originating from European cuisine, strata became popular in Italy as a great way to use leftover bread. Baked layers of bread soaked in an egg mixture, spicy Italian sausages, sweet peppers, and two types of aromatic cheese create a rich, slightly spicy flavor with a creamy consistency. The combination of Pecorino Romano and Fontina adds a distinct cheesy note to the dish, while oregano gives it a Mediterranean touch. This strata is perfect for a late breakfast or cozy family dinner, easy to prepare and pairs well with fresh vegetables or herbs.
