Cinnamon bun is a delightful treat that has become a symbol of coziness and home warmth in Sweden. Its history dates back to the 1920s when cinnamon pastries became popular in Scandinavian cuisine. The tender, airy dough infused with the aroma of cinnamon and vanilla creates an amazing blend of sweetness and spice. When baked, the bun develops a golden crust while its soft interior makes each bite delightful. It is the perfect indulgence for morning coffee or evening tea time. Thanks to a special folding technique, the bun is not only tasty but also aesthetically pleasing, resembling a floral rosette. This dessert is served both on holidays and in the cozy atmosphere of family gatherings, bringing joy and pleasure to everyone who tries it.

1
Mix the yeast with 1 tablespoon of milk and 1 teaspoon of sugar and let it sit until frothy.
- Dry yeast: 8 g
- Milk: 150 ml
- Sugar: 50 g
2
Sift the flour into a deep bowl, add salt, sugar, vanilla sugar, and mix.
- Wheat flour: 400 g
- Salt: 1 teaspoon
- Sugar: 50 g
- Vanilla sugar: 10 g
3
Mix milk with eggs and add yeast to the flour. Knead the dough, add soft butter and knead well, beating the dough against the bowl (or table) to distribute the butter evenly. I noticed that adding butter to already kneaded dough makes the final product tastier and fluffier.
- Milk: 150 ml
- Chicken egg: 2 pieces
- Dry yeast: 8 g
- Wheat flour: 400 g
- Butter: 30 g
4
Cover the bowl with the dough with a damp cloth (or plastic wrap) and let it rise until the dough increases several times.
5
Roll the dough into a sheet of 35x45 cm. Grease the dough with butter and sprinkle with sugar mixed with cinnamon. Cut the dough into 4 pieces. Stack the strips on top of each other. Cut into 8 pieces and arrange in a circle in a form (18–20 cm) lined with parchment paper. Cover the form with a damp towel and let it sit for 30 minutes.
- Butter: 30 g
- Sugar: 50 g
- Cinnamon: 3 teaspoons
6
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 40-60 minutes (depending on the oven) until done.
