Puff pastry pie with pears

Puff pastry pie with pears is an exquisite dessert of European cuisine, combining an airy crispy crust and tender caramelized pears. Its origin is linked to traditional French baking, where caramelized fruits and puff pastry create a refined harmony of flavors. The caramel syrup with hints of cardamom adds warm spicy notes to the pie, while berries and mint provide freshness and elegance. This pie is perfect for cozy family tea times or festive dinners when something special is desired. It is served slightly warm, complemented by berry jam, making the dessert even richer and more expressive.

1
We cut the pear into 4 pieces, peel it, and remove the seeds.
- Pears: 2 pieces
2
Melt sugar (caramelize) in a heated 20 cm diameter pan. Add butter and melt it. Season the caramel with ground cardamom.
- Sugar: 120 g
- Butter: 30 g
- Ground cardamom: to taste
3
Remove the pan from the heat and arrange the pear slices in a circle.
- Pears: 2 pieces
4
We cover the pears with puff pastry.
- Puff pastry: 500 g
5
Fold the edges of the dough inward to create a rim.
6
We make a hole in the middle for steam to escape.
7
We make holes in the dough with a fork to prevent it from rising during baking.
8
Place the pie in a preheated oven at 200 degrees. After 10 minutes of baking, reduce the temperature to 180 degrees. Bake the pie until golden brown.
9
We turn the finished pie onto a plate.
10
We decorate the pie with berries, mint leaves, and powdered sugar. Serve with berry jam — the pie is ready.
