Apples in caramel and nuts

Caramel and nut apples are an exquisite dessert of Italian cuisine that combines the crunchy freshness of fruits with the velvety sweetness of caramel and nut crumbs. This recipe has roots in traditional European fair treats where caramelized apples were sold as a symbol of celebration. Red apples are chilled, coated with delicate creamy caramel that melts to perfection, and then rolled in nut crumbs, creating a harmony of textures and flavors. This treat is perfect for cozy home evenings, fair festivities, or simply sweet indulgence. The apples remain juicy inside while acquiring an appetizing crispy glaze outside. The simplicity of preparation and incredible taste make this dessert a true decoration for any table.

1
Thoroughly washed apples should be chilled (better to put them in the fridge overnight).
- Red apples: 6 pieces
2
Line the baking tray with parchment paper and thoroughly grease it with vegetable oil.
- Vegetable oil: 1 teaspoon
3
Prepare 6 sticks for ice cream. Remove the stems from the apples and insert a stick into each.
4
Pour caramel candies into a deep microwave-safe bowl, add milk, and microwave on medium power for 1 minute. After a minute, take it out and stir well. Put it back for another 30 seconds, take it out and stir again, melt for another 30 seconds (total - 2 minutes). Remove the caramel from the microwave and let it cool slightly (!).
- Creamy caramel: 400 g
- Milk: 2 tablespoons
5
Dip the apples one by one in caramel to coat them evenly, and place them stick-side up on a lined baking sheet.
- Red apples: 6 pieces
6
Place the nut crumbs in a deep bowl. When the caramel on the apples sets but is sticky enough for the nuts to adhere, roll the apples in the nuts.
- Nut crumbs: 12 tablespoons
7
Return to the baking sheet and leave until the caramel is completely set.
