Soft unsweetened waffles on kefir
5 servings
25 minutes
Savory waffles made with kefir are a delicate and airy treat from European cuisine. Their main feature is the lack of pronounced sweetness, making them a versatile addition to various sauces and fillings. Kefir gives the batter a slight tang and softness, while cinnamon adds a subtle aroma. Waffles are perfect for breakfast or a light snack. They can be served with savory or sweet toppings – cream cheese, vegetables, honey, or berries. The simplicity of preparation and accessible ingredients make this recipe indispensable for cozy home meals. Baking in the oven keeps the waffles warm and soft, remaining appetizing until the last serving.

1
In a large bowl, mix the eggs well, add kefir, oil, sugar, cinnamon, and baking soda. Mix well.
- Chicken egg: 2 pieces
- Kefir 1%: 460 ml
- Olive oil: 25 ml
- Sugar: 2 tablespoons
- Ground cinnamon: 0.5 teaspoon
- Soda: 0.3 teaspoon
2
Add flour, baking powder, salt, and mix until large lumps disappear. No need to beat with a mixer, just mixing with a spoon is enough. The dough should be like for pancakes.
- Wheat flour: 235 g
- Baking powder: 2 teaspoons
- Salt: 0.1 teaspoon
3
Preheat the waffle maker and grease it with vegetable oil.
- Olive oil: 25 ml
4
Pour the batter into the center of each cavity and spread it a little, but not completely, as the batter will spread itself when the lid is pressed.
5
Bake waffles according to the instructions for the waffle maker.
6
Place the ready waffles on a fireproof plate and put them in the oven at 100 degrees to keep them warm while the next batch is being prepared. Serve with syrup or other filling.
