Raisin and cinnamon buns are a fragrant and delicate treat from the depths of Russian culinary tradition. These sweet rolls, adorned in a whimsical heart shape, perfectly blend the warm spicy aroma of cinnamon with the rich sweetness of raisins. Their history goes back to when home baking symbolized comfort and hospitality. The airy yeast dough soaked in butter makes the buns soft and tender, while caramelized sugar gives them a thin sweet crust. They can be served with morning coffee, complemented by a glass of hot tea, or enjoyed in cozy company. Each bite brings a sense of home warmth, immersing you in the atmosphere of old Russian bakeries where the aroma of fresh pastries filled the streets and attracted guests.

1
Take frozen yeast dough and thaw it at room temperature. I bought dough for pies, it has ready-made lumps, so it's very convenient to roll out and prepare. There are about 10 lumps in the package, I took half, which makes 5 buns, you can double it.
- Yeast dough: 250 g
2
Once the dough is thawed, it should be allowed to rise in a warm place. The balls should double in size.
3
Next, we roll the balls into flatbreads with a diameter of 15 cm.
4
We spread softened butter on the top surface. Sprinkle with cinnamon, sugar, and raisins to taste. Everyone adds what they like more. I sprinkled everything evenly.
- Ground cinnamon: 2 teaspoons
- Dark raisins: 30 g
- Sugar: 4 teaspoons
5
We roll the flatbread into a small roll, pressing it slightly. We fold the roll in half, bending it inward and pressing it gently.
6
Cut half of the roll on the curved side, leaving a 2 cm tail. Open the two halves to form a heart shape.
7
Grease the baking tray with vegetable oil. Arrange the pastries and brush the sides without filling with egg yolk.
- Egg yolk: 1 piece
8
Place in a warm spot to let the pastries rise a bit. Or on top of the gas stove (on the burners) with the oven on — the heat will rise and the pastries will rise.
9
After the pastries rise a bit, place them in a preheated oven on low heat for 10-15 minutes.
