Heart-shaped buns with dried cherries and chocolate chips are a refined blend of flavors that add delicate charm to traditional British baking. Their origin traces back to home tea treats in England, where sweet, airy scones adorn every tea gathering. Dried cherries give them a soft tartness that harmonizes with the sweetness of the chocolate chips. A light citrus note from orange zest enhances the aroma, while buttery dough makes the buns crumbly and tender. Perfect for a cozy breakfast or romantic treat. Served warm, slightly crispy on the outside and soft inside, they are especially delicious with a cup of fragrant tea or coffee.

1
Grease the baking sheet with oil and sprinkle with flour. Mix 2 cups of flour, 0.3 cups of sugar, baking powder, soda, and salt. Add finely chopped butter and grated zest. Knead well by hand until crumbly. Mix in chocolate chips and dried cherries. Combine buttermilk, yolk, vanilla, and almond extracts, and add to dry ingredients, kneading well. Shape the dough into a ball and place it on a floured surface. Flatten to a thickness of 2 cm.
