Strawberries in basil syrup are a refined combination of freshness and sweetness that can captivate any gourmet. This dessert was born in modern American cuisine, where unexpected flavor contrasts are appreciated. Bright juicy strawberries take on a new hue thanks to the basil-scented syrup with a hint of lemon tartness. The syrup's oily texture gives the dish a special tenderness, while whipped cream adds an airy lightness. This dessert can be served as a standalone treat or as an exquisite addition to morning waffles and pancakes. It is perfect for summer evenings when you want to enjoy something refreshing and aromatic. The simplicity of preparation makes it an excellent choice for both romantic dinners and family gatherings.

1
Mix sugar and water in a small saucepan for the syrup, add 3 sprigs of fresh basil, juice and zest of a quarter lemon, cover with a lid, place over medium heat, and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. When the syrup boils, remove the lid and cook for another 8 minutes. Then strain to remove the basil leaves.
