Apple Pie

A wonderful pie that we will repeat all year round. Apples are great friends with butter, cinnamon, oatmeal, brown sugar and vanilla ice cream - and they all came together here. We look at this recipe as a base that can be complicated - for example, by adding finely ground walnuts to the dough or a drop of fragrant alcohol. And, of course, it is important to remember that apples come in different varieties: ringing and crispy or loose and not very juicy. We used green, hard Granny Smith apples, but, in principle, any will do for this recipe: under the influence of temperature, butter and lemon juice, the filling will partly resemble jam, which does not need the hardness of the apple.

1
Prepare all the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

2
Peel the apples with a vegetable peeler, remove the cores, and cut into cubes about 1 cm on each side.

3
Heat 25 grams of oil in a pan, add half the sugar and apples, and sauté for 3-5 minutes until the sugar melts.
- Butter: 125 g
- Brown sugar: 100 g
- Apple: 400 g

4
At the end, add cinnamon, lemon juice, and mix. Let the filling cool a bit while the dough is being prepared.
- Cinnamon: to taste
- Lemon juice: 20 ml

5
Sift both flours and the baking powder into a large bowl.
- Wheat flour: 100 g
- Oat flour: 100 g
- Baking powder: 1 teaspoon

6
Grate the remaining cold butter on a large grater, dipping it in flour so it grates easier and doesn't clump.
- Butter: 125 g

7
Add sugar and a pinch of salt to the butter and flour.
- Brown sugar: 100 g
- Salt: pinch

8
Mix the contents of the bowl by hand until crumbly.

9
Place half of the dough in the baking pan, spread it evenly, and press it down slightly.

10
Spread the apple filling on the dough and sprinkle the remaining crumbs on top.
- Apple: 400 g

11
Bake the pie in the oven for 35-40 minutes. Let the finished pie cool on a rack.

12
Serve the apple crumble pie with a scoop of ice cream.
- Vanilla ice cream: to taste
