Potatoes with garlic in sour cream is a cozy dish of Russian cuisine, filled with depth of flavor and tenderness of texture. Its roots go back to the traditions of village cooking, where simple ingredients turn into culinary masterpieces. Soft potatoes infused with the aroma of garlic and creamy notes of sour cream create a harmony of flavors—rich, slightly spicy, yet incredibly tender. Butter and onions add extra richness to the dish, while spices enhance its expressiveness. This recipe is perfect for both family dinners and festive tables, highlighting the warmth and simplicity of Russian gastronomy. It can be served with herbs that refresh the taste and add color contrast, making the dish not only delicious but also aesthetically appealing.

1
Fry finely chopped onion in butter, (add ground red-black pepper if desired), add 5 tablespoons of flour, mix and quickly pour in 2-3 cups of boiling water and whisk everything for 2 minutes.
- Onion: 2 heads
- Ground black pepper: to taste
- Wheat flour: 4 g

2
Put the sliced potatoes in the same skillet (I personally like to cut potatoes into medium-thick rings).
- Potato: 1.5 kg
3
Pour in the sour cream and the potatoes should be completely covered with the mixture, so you can add more water if the potatoes are still visible.
- Sour cream: 1 kg
4
Salt with garlic and boil until cooked.
- Salt: to taste
- Garlic: to taste
5
Cover the pan, the sauce should be neither too runny nor too thick.
