Rice with turmeric and butter is a fragrant dish of Indian cuisine, known for its rich golden color and creamy flavor. Basmati, light and airy, absorbs the warmth of spices and the tenderness of ghee, creating a harmony of taste and texture. Turmeric not only adds vibrant color but also fills the dish with its health benefits. This dish is often used as a side for meat and vegetable dishes but also works wonderfully on its own. In Indian tradition, spiced rice symbolizes the coziness and warmth of home cooking. It is easy to prepare: pre-roasting the grains releases their aroma, while slow simmering in boiling water makes the texture tender and airy. This dish is a simple yet exquisite classic of Indian culinary art.

1
Rinse the rice with cold water, rubbing it between your fingers and palm. Change the water several times and repeat the process until it is clear.
- Basmati rice: 1 glass
2
Boil water in a separate pot or kettle. While it boils, melt butter in a thick-walled pot, add salt, spices, rice, and lightly fry it while stirring constantly. The frying process has two stages - first, the rice becomes transparent, and then it takes on a milky color. At this stage, you should stop and move on to the next step.
- Butter: 0.5 teaspoon
- Salt: 0.5 teaspoon
- Ground black pepper: 0.1 teaspoon
- Turmeric: 0.3 teaspoon
- Basmati rice: 1 glass
3
Once the rice turns white, pour boiling water into it, reduce the heat to minimum, and cover with a lid.
- Water: 2 glasss

Now it is very important not to open the lid and not to touch the rice until it is cooked. This will take about 10-15 minutes.
