Homemade Gyros with Chicken
5 servings
60 minutes
Homemade chicken gyros is an ode to Greek street food that can be easily made in your own kitchen. The secret of the dish lies in the tender marinated chicken fillet combining the spice of paprika, the aroma of oregano, and a slight tanginess from yogurt. After frying and finishing in the oven, the meat becomes incredibly juicy with an appetizing golden crust. A warm pita serves as the base filled with tzatziki—a classic refreshing sauce—thin slices of tomato, crispy onion, and even French fries for an unusual texture contrast. The taste of gyros is a balance of freshness, spiciness, and richness. This recipe is perfect for friendly evenings or family dinners, offering a sense of Mediterranean warmth and gastronomic delight.
