Coconut Rice

Coconut rice is a gem of Thai cuisine, where the aroma of jasmine rice intertwines with the rich creamy texture of coconut milk. This recipe has its roots in tropical regions where coconut is widely used in cooking. It has a mild, slightly sweet flavor and pairs perfectly with spicy Thai dishes like curry or fried seafood. The secret to perfect coconut rice is careful rinsing of the grains, the right liquid ratio, and a gentle simmering method under a lid. After cooking, the rice becomes tender and fluffy, while the coconut milk adds a light exotic note. This side dish turns any meal into a true gastronomic celebration.

1
Rinse the rice in a large amount of water until the water is completely clear. Drain in a sieve and shake off the water.
- Jasmine rice: 2 glasss
- Water: 300 ml
2
In a large saucepan, mix water and coconut milk, add salt and sugar. Add rice, stir, and bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook uncovered for 10-15 minutes, until the liquid level drops below the rice level.
- Coconut milk: 400 ml
- Salt: 0.5 teaspoon
- Sugar: 1 teaspoon
- Jasmine rice: 2 glasss
3
Tightly close the lid (we recommend wrapping the connection area in foil), reduce the heat to minimum, and cook for 15 minutes.
4
Remove from heat, let it sit for 5 minutes, and serve.
