In Ireland, New Year is loved and celebrated much more noisily than Christmas. Many traditions and superstitions have been preserved here. For example, if you are invited to a party, you need to knock on the door with a loaf of bread, and then leave it with the host. This should bring daily bread and prosperity to the house. Where do the hosts then put the stale loaves of bread? They prepare goodie - a sweet casserole similar to pudding. Bread is poured with milk, generously flavored with sugar and jam and in this form sent to the oven.

1
Slice the bread. It's better if the bread is of different types, densities, and flavors. This will make the pudding more interesting. Generously spread butter on the bread in a thin layer.
- White bread: 2 kg
- Butter: 200 g
2
Grease the baking dish with oil and layer the bread (each layer is a different type of bread), sprinkling the layers with washed and slightly soaked seedless raisins.
- Butter: 200 g
- Raisin: 200 g
3
Lightly beat the eggs. Mix the milk with sugar, cream, and lemon zest, and warm it up (but do not boil). Combine the milk mixture with the beaten eggs and pour this mixture over the bread and raisins.
- Chicken egg: 6 pieces
- Milk: 500 ml
- Sugar: 100 g
- Cream: 100 ml
- Lemon: 1 piece

Sprinkle with freshly grated nutmeg on top and place in the oven (180 degrees) for 30-40 minutes. The finished pudding should have a dry crust and a fluffy, soft interior. Serve hot.
- Nutmeg: pinch
