Sweet orange bread is a fragrant, airy treat from Italian cuisine. Its soft texture and rich citrus flavor perfectly complement the sweetness of raisins and the warmth of cinnamon. During preparation, the dough is infused with fresh orange zest, giving the baked good a characteristic sunny aroma. This delicacy is perfect for morning coffee or as a centerpiece for festive tables. Thanks to layers of dough soaked in butter and spices, the bread acquires a delightful flaky structure, topped with glaze that enhances its flavor even more. This recipe is a true embodiment of coziness and home warmth, allowing you to enjoy the richness of Italian culinary traditions. Serve it fresh and warm, and it will surely become your family's favorite dessert.

1
Mix flour, 50 g of sugar, vanilla sugar, yeast, and salt in a bowl, then add eggs.
- Wheat flour: 400 g
- Sugar: 8 tablespoons
- Vanilla sugar: 8 g
- Dry yeast: 11 g
- Salt: 0.5 teaspoon
- Chicken egg: 2 pieces
2
Melt 60 g of butter over low heat, add milk and water, and remove from heat. Add the butter-milk mixture to the flour and knead a smooth dough using a mixer with a dough attachment. Place the dough bowl in a warm place for 1 hour to double its volume.
- Butter: 140 g
- Milk: 80 ml
- Water: 90 ml
3
Grate the zest on a fine grater (it's very important not to grate down to the white part - it will be bitter). Rinse the raisins, add them to the zest, and chop coarsely.
- Oranges: 2 pieces
- Raisin: 150 g
4
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
5
Knead the risen dough again and roll it out on a floured surface to a size of about 50x50 cm. Brush the rolled dough with soft butter. Cut the dough into 6 longitudinal strips, each about 8 cm wide, and then cut across five times to create rectangles approximately 8x10 cm.
- Wheat flour: 400 g
- Butter: 140 g
6
Mix sugar with cinnamon, sprinkle it over the rectangles of dough, and distribute the mixture of raisins and orange zest on top.
- Sugar: 8 tablespoons
- Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
- Raisin: 150 g
- Oranges: 2 pieces
7
Grease the cake mold with butter, place it in any bowl so that it stands vertically at an angle. Fold the rectangles of dough in half, slightly stretching them in length and width.
- Butter: 140 g
8
Place the prepared 'layers' of dough in the mold, alternating the fold - one layer with the fold up, the other with the fold down (try to place them loosely, without pressing the layers together). Once all layers are placed, return the mold to a horizontal position and gently distribute the layers as evenly as possible.
9
Leave the mold in a warm place to rise for 5-10 minutes.
10
Place in a preheated oven and bake for 30-40 minutes.
11
Remove the baked bread from the oven, let it cool on a rack for 10 minutes, then remove from the mold.
12
To make the glaze, mix powdered sugar with water, whip until smooth, and apply the glaze to the bread, allowing the bread to cool completely.
- Powdered sugar: 120 g
- Water: 90 ml
