Homemade sherbet is a delicate treat of Turkish cuisine that combines creamy softness and nutty crunch. This dessert is rooted in Eastern traditions, where sherbet has long been not only a sweet delicacy but also a symbol of hospitality. Its preparation is based on simple yet flavorful ingredients: sour cream, sugar, condensed milk, and roasted nuts. The mixture caramelizes to a golden hue, acquiring a velvety texture and rich aroma complemented by hints of vanilla. Sherbet is perfect for tea time and brings a warm feeling of home comfort. In Turkey, it is often prepared for special occasions, enjoying its refined yet deep flavor that harmoniously blends sweetness with nutty richness.

1
Let's prepare the nuts. They need to be roasted beforehand (I do this in the microwave).
2
In an enamel container, add sugar, sour cream, salt and mix.
- Sugar: 1 kg
- Sour cream: 500 g
- Salt: pinch
3
Then place on medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until golden color (i.e., when it starts to darken).
4
Add condensed milk and nuts while continuously stirring.
- Condensed milk: 200 g
- Nuts: 500 g
5
We cook until the color you prefer. I slightly undercooked it: it turned out this color.
6
Add vanilla at the end of cooking and pour into silicone molds.
- Vanillin: to taste
7
That is, if you don't have silicone, there's no need to worry; just grease any pan or dish with sunflower oil and pour confidently.
8
Cool it down and you can drink tea!
