Pie with eggs and cabbage is a traditional Russian treat filled with homey warmth. Its roots trace back to rural cuisine where simple and accessible ingredients were transformed into aromatic, hearty dishes. The tender dough made with sour cream and yeast becomes soft and airy, creating the perfect base for the filling. Sweet caramelized cabbage harmonizes with delicate pieces of egg, giving the pie a balanced flavor with a light creamy note. The golden crust and subtle aroma of butter make it incredibly appetizing. This pie is served hot with tea or sour cream and is perfect for family gatherings and friendly meetings. Fragrant and cozy, it transports you to a warm home where loved ones gather around the table.

1
Mix yeast into the sour cream, add salt and sugar, then add softened butter at room temperature. Add flour and knead the dough by hand.
- Dry yeast: 20 g
- Salt: 0.5 teaspoon
- Sugar: 1.5 tablespoon
- Butter: 200 g
- Sour cream 20%: 200 g
- Wheat flour: 4 glasss
2
Roll the dough into a ball, poke five holes in it for air. Place the dough in the fridge, loosely covered with a plate, for one and a half to two hours. You can also divide it into two equal parts right away.

Meanwhile, chop the cabbage finely and sauté in butter until golden brown. Boil the eggs hard, chop them, and mix with the cabbage.
- White cabbage: 700 g
- Butter: 200 g
- Chicken egg: 3 pieces

Roll out the dough on a floured surface — the bottom layer a bit thicker, the top layer thinner. Grease the baking tray with butter, place the top layer, then the filling, cover it with the second layer of dough, and lightly seal the edges with fingers.
- Wheat flour: 4 glasss
- Butter: 200 g
5
Whisk the yolk with a fork and brush the surface of the pie. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees until the crust turns dark golden.
- Egg yolk: 1 piece

It's better to add two to three tablespoons of sugar to the dough for a sweet filling pie. Filling options can include: poppy (cooked with sugar, then the dough is rolled into a roll), apples (chopped finely and sprinkled with sugar), candied fruits (lemon and orange peels soaked in water for a day and ground with sugar).
