Rinse the filtered rice as well as possible, drain. Keep freshly boiled water ready.
- Basmati rice: 2 glasss

In a thick-bottomed pot, heat the oil, add a broken cinnamon stick and crushed cardamom pods, quickly fry, then add salt and turmeric.
- Melted butter: 1 tablespoon
- Cinnamon sticks: 1 piece
- Cardamom pods: 5 piece
- Turmeric: 1 teaspoon
- Salt: to taste

Add rice, stirring thoroughly to coat each grain with oil.

Carefully pour 3 cups of boiling water into the pot, stir, and immediately cover with a lid. Bring to a boil over high heat and start the timer. After 5 minutes, reduce the heat to low and cook for another 7 minutes – a total of 12 minutes.

Remove the pot from the heat, wrap it in newspaper, and cover it with a blanket – this way the rice will steam and finish cooking. It will be ready in 12 minutes.
