Herring cutlets are an unusual and aromatic dish of Russian cuisine, originating from the traditions of fish cutlets found in coastal regions. The spicy taste of herring combined with the softness of cottage cheese creates a delicate texture, while the addition of fragrant pepper and garlic adds a piquant touch. Fried to a golden crust, the cutlets retain their juiciness, and subsequent heating in the oven makes them even richer. These cutlets can be a great addition to mashed potatoes, fresh salad, or even served as a standalone dish. They are perfect for a home dinner or a cozy family gathering, offering an original way to use accessible and simple ingredients.
