Tteok (Korean rice cakes) are Korean items of glutinous rice flour steamed and kneaded into a dense elastic mass, white, smooth, without a pronounced taste, very stretchy-chewy ('mochi' texture). Cylindrical tteokbokki are braised in the spicy gochujang sauce, tteok-guk is put into New Year soup, and sweet types are made with bean paste, nuts and fruit as a dessert.
