Black walnut bitters is a concentrated aromatic bitter tincture on green walnuts, spirit, sugar and spices (clove, cinnamon, vanilla), dark brown, added to drinks a few drops at a time, with a rich nutty, slightly astringent and spiced taste. It is used in cocktails (Old Fashioned, Manhattan, variations), coffee and mulled wine, and in cooking in creams, dessert sauces and baking.
