Fried dumplings

3 servings

15 minutes

Fried dumplings are a delicious combination of a crispy golden crust and juicy filling. This cooking method comes from traditional Russian cuisine, where dumplings symbolize home comfort and warm gatherings. Frying gives them a special texture, making the dough fragrant and slightly crunchy, while the filling is richly spiced. They pair perfectly with various sauces: sour cream, mayonnaise, adjika, adding new flavor nuances to each bite. These dumplings are easy to prepare and are great for a cozy family dinner or a friendly gathering when you want to delight guests with something familiar yet with an unexpected culinary twist.

Cooking steps
  • 1

Place frozen dumplings (store-bought or homemade) in a skillet greased with vegetable oil and set the heat slightly below maximum (I set it to 5 out of 6).

    Required ingredients:
    1. Frozen dumplings30 pieces
    2. Vegetable oil to taste
  • 2

Fry the dumplings on both sides.

  • 3

Mix water with salt and spices and pour it over the dumplings. (Attention! Close the lid immediately when pouring water, it will splash a lot.)

    Required ingredients:
    1. Water0.5 glass
    2. Salt to taste
    3. Spices to taste
  • 4

Once all the water has evaporated, remove from heat. It's advisable to taste the broth with salt; I added a Maggi cube today and ended up oversalting it a bit.

  • 5

Serve with sour cream, mayonnaise, ketchup, adjika, whatever you like!
