Truffle salt is sea or rock salt with ground dried black or white truffle added (and often truffle flavouring), pale with dark specks, with a clean salty taste and a rich earthy-mushroomy truffle aroma. It is used as a finishing seasoning: sprinkled over fries, mash, scrambled eggs, pasta, risotto, popcorn, steaks, cheese and salads just before serving.
