Gingerbread is a dense or soft gingerbread product of rye or wheat flour with honey or molasses, brown sugar and a spice blend (ginger, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, cardamom), dark brown, aromatic, with a warm spiced-sweet taste. It is baked into figures and houses, decorated with royal icing for Christmas, served with tea, coffee and mulled wine and crumbled into trifles and ice cream.
